D&D Encounters : Search for the Diamond Staff - Session 0 RECAP

SESSION 0 RECAP
Cinnaelos’Cor Festival

If there’s one thing the Dalelands aren’t known for it’s throwing a great party. But once every leap year the elves, men, nobles, peasants, farmers, and adventurers all get together to celebrate Shieldmeet. Commemorating the pact of peace made between humans and elves centuries ago, we celebrated this holiday at the shop with games, merriment, character creation, and background/world building!

There were small games to be played, prizes to be won, trivia to be stumped by, and interesting characters to meet! Special prizes went out to raffle winners Loris and Neil, who each won a shiny new set of dice, and to Brandon, who won a copy of Ed Greenwood Presents: Elminster’s Forgotten Realms. Congrats to these hearty folk of the Dalelands!

Beyond The Screen : D&D Encounters - Storm Over Neverwinter : Ask Team DM, part 1

1. Do you actually read the adventure and do you care if we die or not. Or what do you do to make sure we know what’s up every week because I missed two weeks and had no idea what was going on.

(Lauren) Every DM is expected to have read the entire module before Session 0. We have a DM meeting at the start of every season where we throughly discuss the entire story and plot.

Death is part of D&D. No Twenty Sided Store DM seeks out to intentionally kill PCs (in fact they actively try not to), but sometimes players swing first and ask questions later. There are consequences in every decision a DM or a player makes, for good or bad. If every fight was a walk in the park, they would be much less interesting.

Storm Over Neverwinter Session 7 Recap
by Giaco Furino

You weren’t even supposed to make it this far, you know? Chartilifax, that giant green dragon who spit madness and poison at you and your friends, was supposed to take care of you. He was supposed to chew you up and spit you out! But you sent him howling into the storm-soaked night, and you made it to the second floor of the Cathedral at Helm’s Hold.

D&D Encounters : Storm Over Neverwinter, Session 6 RECAP

by Giaco Furino

Sometimes, as an adventurer, you witness things that will stay with you for the rest of your life. This past session, the adventurers saw just that. A handsome green-skinned elf with lush, golden hair stepped up to them, cracked his knuckles, and shred his own body apart.

Session 6 Recap

You don’t remember what it’s like to have dry clothing. It’s been raining so hard and so consistently, this terrible storm over Neverwinter, that all you can do is squint your eyes and shiver in your soaked socks. But you seem to have made some headway after you routed the cult of Asmodeus during the “night of madness.”

Storm Over Neverwinter Session 4 Recap

The acrid smell of smoke lingers in the evening air as the skies open and unleash buckets of rain in a torrential downpour. The screams and cries of townsfolk ring out amidst the blasts of the guards’ horns, the cracks of lightning, and the rumbles of thunder. Chaos erupts around the city of Neverwinter. The mad and marked are lashing out! The general population devolves into looters, thieves, and thugs. Who can help our party of adventurers make headway in this chaos?

D&D Encounters : Storm Over Neverwinter, Session 3 RECAP

by Giaco Furino

The sky is dark and filled with the rumbling of thunder. In the distance a crack of lightning brightens the horizon. The storm over the tumultuous city of Neverwinter looms ever closer. In the midst of this historic storm, the likes of which have never been seen by the port town, cultists of Asmodeus kidnap and seem to brainwash parts of the population. Times are tough in the toughest city this side of the Silver Marches.

D&D Encounters : Storm Over Neverwinter, Session 2 RECAP

by Giaco Furino

The whipping winds of the looming storm battered back and forth the broken doors of Lady Nidris’ home. The heroes, tasked with taking her safely back to her abode after an attempted kidnapping, began this session searching her ruined apartment for clues as to where her son was taken. The culprits seemed clear: giant markings of Asmodeus were branded and painted in blood all over her home. This was clearly the work of the Asmodeus cultists the heroes tangled with in Session One.

Beyond The Screen : Episode #1 : Ask Team DM

Every Wednesday at Twenty Sided Store we play D&D Encounters. We have an average of 30 players and a team of 6 DMs running tables each season. At the end of every season I hand out a feedback questionnaire to our players. This season one of the questions I asked was, “If you had one question for Team DM what would it be?” and so I present you with this video as an attempt to answer those questions.

D&D Encounters : Escaping the Arrow - Session Recaps

Session 1

Entry by Leo Jenicek

Except from the Journal of Lord Gil-Thalion

Date… That’s bit of mystery at present, as I do seem to be escaping from a bally odd prison. Ormanel, normally I would be narrating my exciting adventures to you, and you’d be putting a bit of panache on the proceeding, as if my adventurer were not as adventurous as adventures should be! (Hmmm… Perhaps you were right, this writing is dashedly difficult! Well, I’ll give it the old “What Ho!” and press on.)

Sometimes the choices we make are not nearly as black and white as we would be led to believe. I was given this curse in an act of villainy, but if I can use it to sway the battle between darkness and light, even though I cannot enjoy the latter, I will do all my immortal body will allow me.

I am a product of darkness, but I fight not for it.

From the shoulder of my charge, I beheld the great siege of Mithral Hall. Behind the sounds of marching patrols, our traveling band could hear a solitary horn beckoning the enemy troops toward action. The
young Locke has come to fully embrace the flux of his lycanthropy curse and used it to great advantage as we attacked the closest commander tent. Having retrieved a map and burning the place down, we destroyed the accursed horn before making our way toward one of the “secret” entrances to the Hall.

*The following is an excerpt taken from the second entry of Andrest Locke’s Journal detailing his exploits during the War of Ever Lasting Darkness. Late Spring, 1484 DR.

…They screamed and spat in our faces as they pushed the three of us to our seats. The challenger sets himself down into the stony, arena pit. I see the signs of savagery all over – blood on the walls; crunched bones and skulls detail the dark-shaded floor. Standing opposite of Rangar in the pit was a scaly angry reptile: a drake. One of his eyes were missing, the other shut closed and scarred. It was blind, yet I had the feeling it could smell out its victim.

Entry 2 : by Rich Stein

While scholars across the realms are still piecing together much of the details of what we now know as the War of Everlasting Darkess, one archaeological find has become a wealth of information. In the ruins of modest Temple of Kelemvor located within the Glimmerwood (exact location unknown) a collection of letters were discovered. The correspondences are all addressed to one Father Arneston, believed to be the high priest of the temple, and also a ranking member of the Order of Doomguides. The letters are penned by a young Paladin in this order, one Valara Solrei, who provides unprecedented insight into the events leading up to the War of Everlasting Darkness…

Greetings Father Arneston,

I write this to you from a well-kept room in the Whistling Stag Inn, in Quaevarr. I am sure you know of it well, it is not more than a few days journey. I followed the rumors of a restless spirit back to this village and while the rumors held true, what I found went far beyond the mere presence of an undying soul. The specter was himself once a knight, a paladin perhaps, of the long dead god of guardians, Helm.

D&D Encounters : Council of Spiders : Session 5 RECAP
